Empty Airspace is the first documentary short of producer-director team Elena Heatherwick and Angus Dunsire.

Set against the backdrop of North-West England in political turmoil and an aviation industry in existential crisis, this film looks to capture an intimate portrait of Greater Manchester's plane-spotting scene.

With this documentary, we’ve looked to make a film with community at its heart. It is the range of characters that makes this film what it is and the intimate moments of support, love and friendship they display for the people in their lives and the warmth they so naturally extend to one another.

We’re with them throughout a series of difficult months as they navigate through a plethora of pandemic-enhanced challenges with seemingly boundless generosity and compassion – proudly community-driven and quintessentially British in their humor.
